Match on Action -
Editing Follows the Action. Follows from behind a character walking towards a door and opening the door then cuts to the other side of the door filming the charter walking through it.
Shot - Reverse - Shot -
Style of continuity editing. Filming one object usually an individual in a conversation then cuts to the other object and then back to the first object.
180° Rule -
Stay on the same side of the filmed characters and can be panned on a 180° parameter. Cannot switch to the opposite side of the frame as that would break the continuity editing and the 180° rule. The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line.
